I was so happy when I found this recipe. I’ve made other mock chop livers before – with peas or string beans, but those all had hard boiled eggs in them. No good for me. I was also so happy to find it because it is both easy and something that I will be able to make on Passover. I’m a bit nervous about Passover. Since I won’t be able to eat tofu or soy it’s going to really limit my variety. At least it’s only for a week.
Back to the mock chop liver. Here’s the recipe:

I made this last week and served it with more fried onions. You just can’t have enough fried onions.
It makes such an amazing sandwich stuffer. Very yummy!

I don’t particularly like walnuts. Can you make this with another type of nut? If so, what?
I usually don’t like walnuts either. They work in this recipe. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve substituted pecans in other recipes and it works well. If you do try it, let me know how it works.
Must be glad matzah only contains flour and water!
Sure am!

I made this last week and ate and ate it until I almost burst. It is amazing, Rena. I did freeze the rest and will take it out sometime in the future. Thanks for this recipe…when I became a vegetarian I gave up some of the foods that I loved…and I’m not much of an experimenter in terms of “mock” foods. However, I am trusting you to help me get in touch with my roots, and you haven’t steered me wrong.

This has to be one of my favorite recipes ever. I’m starting to get nervous about Passover, but this recipe is perfect for Passover, so I’m sure that I’ll be eating a lot of it.
I love mock foods. These are foods that I grew up with that I have a huge emotional connection with. This is the my way of getting the best of both worlds.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I’ll do my best to live up to them!
