It’s been really hot here lately. I mean really hot. My friend and I used to go walking at 7, 8, or 9 in the morning. Now we go at 6am. We walk for 1 to 1 1/2 hours (sometimes more) 6 days a week. I take water with me, so I’m not dying of thirst, but when I get home, I’m really ready for breakfast. When I want a special treat, I make these shakes. They only take a couple of minutes and they are completely refreshing. When I make them, I make two. It’s really not nice to make something like this for yourself and not have any to share, so this recipe is good for 2 shakes.

Raw Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake
This is the perfect summery refreshing treat.

- banana - 1, sliced and frozen
- cocoa powder - 1 1/2 tablespoons
- agave syrup - 1 teaspoon
- peanut butter - 2 tablespoons
- vanilla - 1/2 teaspoon
- soy milk - 1 1/2 cups
Instructions
- Process all ingredients in a blender.
- Serve
I keep a few soaked dates in the fridge so that I can make this when the feeling hits me. I also keep frozen bananas in my freezer. I take the ones that are just about to start turning, slice them into rounds, and wrap them in plastic wrap until I’m ready to use them. Frozen bananas are great for making ice cream too.
You can make this without the peanut butter, and it works just as well. I love the peanut butter chocolate combo, so I won’t be doing that any time soon. I grew up on Reese’s, so this is an especially fun treat for me.
Enjoy!
